4 PLAIN DEALER, THURSDAY, JUNE 29, 1989. 17-D 4-01 OBITUARIES Robert T. Halligan, purchasing agent Robert T. Halligan was a purchasing agent for the Cuyahoga County engineer's office. He worked for the engineer's office from 1983: He previously was a purchasing agent for private local companies including Envirotech Corp.

for 15 years. Mr. Halligan, 64, died Monday at his home in North Olmsted of cancer. High School. He a 1942 graduate of St.

Ignatius During World War II, Mr. Halligan served with the 2nd Infantry of the U.S. Army in France and Germany and participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the Normandy invasion. After his discharge from the Army, Mr. Halligan attended John Carroll University, where he earned a degree in business administration.

He was a member of St. Richard's Holy Name Society and the St. Ignatius and John Carroll Alumni Associations. He also belonged to the Irish Heritage Club. Mr.

Halligan is survived by his wife, Mary Louise; a daughter, Maureen N. Meyer of Vermilion, sons, R. Mark of Chicago, Brian of Ashland and Kevin P. of Cleveland; four grandchildren; a sister; and a Services will be at 10 a.m. today at St.

Richard Catholic Church, 26855. Lorain North Olmsted. Elmer Gordon, 72, ex-football coach Elmer George Gordon was a popular football coach at St. Ignatius High School. He coached the junior varsity team from, 1954 through 1959.

In appreciation for his leadership, team members presented him with a plaque that recognized Mr. Gordon for "teamwork, friendship, loyalty and hard work." Mr. Gordon also initiated Catholic Youth Organization groups at St. Vitus church beginning in 1946 and at St. Aloysius Church beginning in 1950..

Mr. Gordon, 72, of South Euclid died Monday at the Lakeside Unit of University Hospitals of heart failure. He' was born in Windber, where he was a member of the high school football squad that won the Pennsylvania state championship in 1933. He attended Albright College in Reading, on a football scholarship and earned a degree in education. During World War II, Mr.

Gordon worked. in a defense industry in Johnstown, Pa. He began working at East Ohio Gas Co. after the war as a customer service representative. Mr.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Ann; a daughter, Georgianne. Borally of Lyndhurst; a son, Barry G. of Sanibel Island, and six grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St.
