Jack was born in Cleora, OK, on April 16, 1920, to William Penn Bond and Lillie M. (Herrod) Bond. Tack was raised in Vinita, OK, but resided in Tulsa for most of his life.
Jack was a man of great wisdom and numerous talents. He deeply affected the lives of all who knew him. His accomplishments during his journey of life, included beekeeper, electrician, avid gardener, and butcher. He was a meat cutter for 61 years, with 38 of those years spent at Grocery, where he was known as "Jack the Butcher." Jack was a World War II Veteran in the U.S. Navy Submarines in the Asiatic- Theatre.
One of his greatest passions, however, was helping veterans his fellow comrades. He was a life member of VFW Post 577, where he volunteered countless hours of his time. Jack served as Vice Commander, Commander and Past Commander, and Commander of the Military Order of the Cooties (MOC) Pup Tent 5. He helped perform Military Rites detail until December, 2003, when his illness began. Jack's endless commitment to all veterans will I never be forgotten.
Aside from his volunteer work, Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Velma Bond; sister, Betty Schmid; and 2 sons, Jackie Baker and James Stephen Bond. He passed away Friday, February 16, 2007. Levi's paternal grandmother, Sarah Downing, was a full blood Cherokee, whose parents, Benjamin and Peggy Rattlinggourd Downing, were born in the Cherokee Nation in Georgia. Levi was extremely proud of his Cherokee heritage. He frequently attended the Annual Cherokee Holiday in Tahlequah and given the chance, loved to talk about his Cherokee roots. Levi grew up in poverty.
When he completed the 8th grade, his father told him that if he wanted more education, he would have to find the means to do it himself. Levi supported himself by working at a local drugstore. He had many entertaining stories to tell about this job! Through hard work and determination, Levi did complete his education. He graduated from Warner High School in 1932 and was a member of the Oklahoma High School Honor Society. He obtained a Junior College Diploma (Associate Degree) from Connors State Agricultural College (now Connors State College) in 1934 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Northeastern State College (now Northeastern State University) in 1947.
In 1947, he was given a Lifetime Public School Teachers Certificate in Industrial Arts for grades 7 through 12, from the State of Oklahoma, Department of Education. Levi was proud of his alma mater (NSU) and until physically unable to go, attended the Homecoming Game and activities each year. Levi worked as a School Teacher for many years. For the most part, Levi taught in rural schools, sometimes in a one-room schoolhouse. He started working at McDonnell Douglas during World War II.
He worked as a tool planner and retired from there in 1977. Levi was a member of the UAW, Local 1093. He was also designated as a Lifetime Member of the UAW Community Action Program. After his retirement, Levi remained active in the Odd Fellows and Rebekah's, AARP, and the UAW. He enjoyed the summer trips to Norman, as a Retiree Representative of the UAW.
Levi attended church all of his life. After moving from Tulsa to Broken Arrow in 1956, he attended Arrow Heights Baptist Church. Around 1960, he was baptized there. Later, he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow. Levi attended services, Sunday School, and taught Sunday School classes for many years.
He was a devoted Christian, loved Jesus, loved to read his Bible, and said his prayers every day. Because of failing health, Levi moved to Moscow, ID, to live with his daughter, Michelle and son-in-law, Richard. He enjoyed living with family, but never lost his love for and desire to live in Oklahoma again. Levi is survived by son, Jim Hiseley (Glenna, wife) of Tulsa; daughter, Michelle Hiseley (Richard Reardon, husband) of Moscow; daughter, Dolores Minor (Bill, husband) of Wylie, TX; sister, Pauline Weatherford (Richard, husband) of Braggs, OK; sister, Ann Cude of Muskogee, OK; sister, Louise Adkinson (Gordon, husband) of Cameron Park, CA; and brother, Tommy Hiseley of Muskogee. Levi is also survived by his grandchildren, Lawrence Hiseley, CA, Kelly Kemp, Sante Fe, TX, Jimmie Frank Fletcher, Algoa, TX, Mary Williams, Pearland, TX, Randy Smith, Dallas, TX, and Rick Smith, Tulsa; several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was Pastor of First Church in Sallisaw, OK. He was Assistant and Associate Minister at Westminster Church in Oklahoma City, OK. He married, Carolyn Whitmarsh on September 4, 1999 in Lincoln. He continued to serve the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., most recently as Paster of the First Presbyterian Church.
