Skina Amsterdam offers perhaps the tastiest coffee in the West >> (2024)

The men behind the well-known Rue de La Bastille have joined forces with coffee connoisseur Michael Danner (former employee at Toki in the Jordaan). The result? Skina Amsterdam – a ‘neighborhood café’ with excellent specialty coffee and accompanying high-quality sweets. And so the Bilderdijkstraat in Amsterdam-West has a new coffee hotspot.

Why you want to visit Skina Amsterdam

‘Skina’ means ‘corner’ in Papiamento. It will not surprise you that Skina Amsterdam can be found on the corner of Bilderdijkstraat, directly opposite Ikaria – another place with good coffee. We can now say that Amsterdam Oud-West, especially the area around Kwakeerplein, is a heaven for coffee lovers. In addition to the two mentioned businesses, Loof, Berry, and Bakery Loof are a stone’s throw away. The common denominator? They all serve specialty coffee, all of equally high quality. Amsterdam-West has many good coffee shops, and Skina is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.

Menu Skina

At Skina, you immediately feel at ease; the space is light thanks to the many windows, and the seating areas are comfortable. The entire concept is correct: the interior (full of eye-catching primary colors), the atmosphere, andthe extensive menu. Add to this that you immediately notice that the staff is passionate about coffee. They know what to do with every doubter. You will also get your money’s worth regarding tasty treats with your coffee at this place. Every day, they get fresh sweets from the best bakeries in Amsterdam – including Loof and Grammes – and the savory spreads, for they make the bread in their kitchen.

All in all, Skina best describes itself as an innovative coffee shop, unique and which did not yet exist in Amsterdam. That fact alone is reason enough to visit it.
