With a lot of patience and a pair of scissors, ambulance driver John manages to free the screaming animal. Ring-necked parakeets are noisy birds. And on Blauwe Kamerlaan in The Hague, this becomes very clear on Friday 26 July. The control room receives a call about one of these bright green birds, which is entangled in a net. The net is stretched around an apple tree, to protect the apples from hungry birds. The caller tried to free the bird himself, but was unsuccessful. The animal is still entangled and is screaming with stress. A neighbour's cat, who likes birds more than apples, has already spotted the parakeet and tries to catch this easy prey. Our ambulance driver John needs nothing more than a lot of patience and a pair of scissors to carefully cut the animal free.
